Frequency of Brain Death in Children and Donation Rate

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the frequency patients diagnosed with brain death after admission thepediatric intensive care unit and organ donation rate. Material Methods: carried out as a retrospective analysis. Patients in pediatric Ankara City Hospital were recorded patient form. limited admitted hospital between 1 December 2019 2021. Results: data who died PICU (n= 325) evaluated. A total 17 (5.2%) these (BD). underlying diseases 7 (42%) central nervous system disorders (cerebral palsy, meningocele, hydrocephalus, etc.), head trauma (such traffic accidents falls) 5 others (29%), hypoxic-ischemic injury owing cardiopulmonary arrest remaining (29%) patients. Cranial CT angiography performed all an ancillary test. Six (35%) hypernatremia Central Diabetes Insipidus (DI). Only one became donor. Conclusion: diagnosis should be made more frequently.
